Chapter 131: Transformation Complete!

1 week ago · 7 min read

A crimson phantom burst out of Yuji's body.

It separated from him like a soul pulled free, taking shape in the blink of an eye. Blood-red light condensed into a humanoid figure, and the moment Mahito's scorpion-tail scythes came slashing down from behind, twin swords flashed.

Clang.

The incoming tails were severed in midair.

Mahito's body jolted. He spat out another mouthful of blood, his eyes widening as he stared at the figure that had suddenly appeared between him and Yuji.

The figure was slender and familiar.

At a glance, it looked almost like another Yuji Itadori. But the clothing was completely different. His upper body was bare beneath a samurai-style outfit, and a blood-red mask covered his face. In both hands, he held a sword, and the pressure radiating from him carried the same violent murderous intent as Yuji himself.

Mahito understood at once.

This was a manifestation of Yuji Itadori's soul.

Something similar to the clones he could create through his own Cursed Technique.

But also different.

Very different.

More importantly, Mahito could feel it.

This thing was his natural enemy.

The battle tore through the street.

Yuji fought with his physical body, while the crimson soul manifestation moved at his side like a second sword-wielding self. The two attacked and defended together, forcing Mahito, Jogo, and Hanami to coordinate under pressure.

Yuji did not fight recklessly.

Even in his rage, he kept spreading Demon Power around the battlefield, suppressing the shockwaves and reducing the damage to the surrounding houses. He could not allow ordinary people to be dragged into this.

The fight moved from the residential street all the way toward the riverbank.

Among the three Disaster Curses, only Jogo could truly suppress Yuji head-on.

But even that suppression was temporary.

Yuji's regenerative ability was now more terrifying than a Cursed Spirit's. Wounds closed almost as soon as they appeared. Burned flesh repaired itself. Torn muscles stitched back together beneath black smoke.

Worse still, every time Yuji's swords cut them, that strange power invaded their bodies.

If they had not been Cursed Spirits, if their bodies had relied on ordinary vital points and organs, the damage would already have stripped them of resistance.

But even for Cursed Spirits, continuing like this was dangerous.

If they could not kill Yuji quickly, defeat was only a matter of time.

Jogo could no longer hold back. He turned his single eye toward Kenjaku, who had been watching from a distance, and barked, "If you won't give me an answer, I'll kill him right now!"

His hands moved.

He was about to open his Domain.

Fortunately, a voice sounded from the side of Yuji's face a moment before Jogo could complete the motion.

"This brat hasn't gained Asuramaru's full recognition yet."

It was Sukuna.

Just that one sentence was enough.

Kenjaku's eyes narrowed slightly, and he immediately spoke.

"Stop. It's time for us to leave."

As he said that, he waved a hand.

A mass of Cursed Spirits poured into the area, surging toward Yuji from every direction like a dark tide. Their only purpose was to block him.

Jogo fell silent for a brief moment.

Then he made the same decision.

"Hanami, Mahito. We're leaving."

The three Disaster Curses retreated at once, using the swarm of Cursed Spirits to cover their escape.

Yuji watched them flee.

His eyes locked onto Mahito.

He gave up defending.

Arcana rose in his hand. Demon Power gathered along the sword's edge, turning the air around it black and heavy.

Then Yuji swung toward Mahito's back.

"Getsuga Tensho!"

A pitch-black crescent slash tore forward.

The wave of darkness cut through every Cursed Spirit in its path, splitting the swarm open like paper.

But Mahito had already been watching for it.

He twisted his body and narrowly dodged, then turned his head with a wicked grin.

"You missed me, idiot."

Yuji's killing intent did not fade.

"No matter where you run..."

His voice carried across the riverbank.

"Even if you run to the ends of the earth, I'll catch you."

His grip tightened around the swords.

"And I'll kill you."

At that moment, Yuji Itadori's transformation was complete.

Inside the sword, Asuramaru looked at him and saw a shadow of Tanjiro.

Once upon a time, that boy had said something similar.

It felt like yesterday.

Mahito, fleeing into the distance, once again felt fear crawl deep into his bones. He did not look back. He only moved faster, disappearing completely from Yuji's sight.

Yuji was left alone before the tide of Cursed Spirits.

Among the swarm, even two Grade 1 Cursed Spirits had appeared.

But Yuji's body had already begun to sway.

Ittō Shura placed a tremendous burden on the user's body. Combined with the high-intensity battle against three Disaster Curses, Yuji's muscles, bones, and organs had been torn and restored again and again.

His body had healed.

His mind had not.

Exhaustion pressed down on him like lead.

Even so, he gritted his teeth and raised both swords.

"I'll kill all curses."

His voice was hoarse.

The Cursed Spirits rushed toward him.

Yuji stepped forward and charged into the swarm.

His swords flashed through the night.

One Cursed Spirit fell.

Then another.

Then another.

Black mist, fire, and gale tore across the riverbank as Yuji harvested them one by one, cutting through the swarm with the stubbornness of someone who refused to fall before the last enemy disappeared.

Inside the sword, Asuramaru was not focused on the battle outside for the moment.

The system's notifications were ringing in his mind.

[Ding! Intense negative emotions detected from the Special Grade Cursed Spirit Mahito. Gained 20,000 emotion points!]

[Ding! Intense negative emotions detected from the Special Grade Cursed Spirit Jogo. Gained...]

The following prompts no longer mattered as much.

The key was Mahito.

That fellow could easily provide over twenty thousand emotion points every time.

To be honest, even Sukuna was not as generous.

Asuramaru suddenly felt a little reluctant to kill him too soon.

Outside, an unknown amount of time passed.

The Cursed Spirits before Yuji were nearly wiped out.

Through constant Feedback, his body had risen to a new height. His Cursed Energy had grown denser. His physical strength had increased again.

Only two Grade 1 Cursed Spirits remained.

One was a massive pitch-black serpent.

The other was a giant four-winged eagle capable of flight.

The eagle attacked first.

Its four wings shook violently, releasing wind slashes formed from Cursed Energy. The attacks tore through the air toward Yuji from above.

Yuji raised Arcana.

A pitch-black slash flew upward and struck the eagle head-on, knocking it out of the sky.

He stepped forward before it could recover.

Arcana pierced straight into its skull.

The eagle's body shattered.

Its remains collapsed into fragments and condensed into a mask, which fell into Yuji's hand.

He had no time to examine it.

Yuji hung the mask at his waist and turned toward the charging serpent.

This battle of breaking his limits had given him new insight.

The sword in his hand ignited with scorching flames.

In his mind, every movement of Tanjiro Kamado surfaced with startling clarity.

Footwork.

Breath.

Angle.

Timing.

Yuji inhaled.

"Hinokami Kagura: Dance!"

He lunged forward.

At the moment the serpent struck, Yuji shifted sideways. The flaming sword swept out in a magnificent arc, cutting through the night like a burning crescent.

The giant serpent's head split in two.

Its body collapsed, then shattered into fragments.

Another mask fell into Yuji's hand.

Demon Power flowed back into him through Feedback, but Yuji no longer had the strength to care.

His mind had reached its limit.

Before he could even sheathe his sword, his body tipped backward.

He fell.

Just before he hit the ground, Asuramaru released Demon Power to cushion the impact.

Yuji landed softly on the riverbank.

Inside the sword, Asuramaru looked at him with a rare trace of emotion in his eyes.

"You've finally transformed, Yuji Itadori."

After slaughtering so many Cursed Spirits, Yuji's Cursed Energy had already stepped into the threshold of a Grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerer.

Of course, his technique was still lacking.

But that problem could be solved.

The upcoming Kyoto Sister School Event would be perfect for sharpening him.

Some time later, Yoshino Junpei finally managed to calm his mother down and came outside to search for Yuji.

He found him by the riverbank.

Yuji lay on the ground, unmoving.

Junpei's expression changed at once.

"Yuji!"

He rushed forward and knelt beside him.

"Can you hear me?"

Yuji did not respond.

Junpei quickly checked him. His body was intact, and his breathing was steady. He did not seem injured. He only looked like he had fallen into a deep sleep.

Only then did Junpei let out a shaky breath.

He carried Yuji onto his back and returned home, settling him down so he could rest and be looked after.
