Chapter 1708 - 1261: Half a Month on Vacation

Wa-la.
When the automatic curtain opened, the dazzling sunlight smacked Ash’s face like a slap, making him groan in discomfort as he hugged the small blanket tightly and turned around. Then the blanket was suddenly snatched away, and he instinctively covered himself to guard his dignity: "No—"
"You’re wearing clothes."
Felix said, hands on hips with a hint of annoyance: "And it’s already afternoon. Are you still not awake? You slept alone last night, so why were you still up until morning?"
Ash rubbed his eyes and sat up, yawning widely with messy hair and sleepy eyes: "Because only when I’m sleeping alone can I play games through the night..."
"Can’t you play games at other times?"
Ash sighed and said sincerely: "Felix, even if it’s me, if I affect the sleep quality of the four of them for my selfish desires, I would still feel ashamed."
Felix’s mouth twitched as she resisted the urge to smother him with the blanket, "You’ve been living here for half a month, and for ten days you’ve all slept together, how can you say something like that... do you really possess the mental capacity for shame? Seriously, can’t you indulge in pure love occasionally, instead of a full assembly every time?"
"It’s not always a full assembly, the specific lineup is determined internally by them, and I have no power to intervene—"
"But if you say you want to team up with Sword Maiden or trade alone with sister Vishi, do you think they would oppose?"
"Hmm—" Ash crossed his arms and thought for a moment: "Let me think of a better explanation..."
"Aha, the trash can is about to spit a thesis."
"Got it! Take me for example, don’t look at me this way—even though I’m actually quite messy in daily life—"
"What do you mean by ’don’t look at you this way’? Your pajamas and underwear are things I sorted and placed at the top of your wardrobe the day before. Do you think I have a wrong impression of you?"
Ash shrank back a bit and cautiously asked: "Felix, you’re awfully grumpy today."
Felix realized her attitude was off and hugged the small blanket while sitting at the bedside, saying softly: "Continue speaking."
"Even though I usually scatter things around messily, I often instinctively know where they are when I need them. But ironically, when I conscientiously tidy up my room, I’m more likely to not find things." Ash explained: "This is the razor principle: if it’s unnecessary, don’t create entities; don’t meddle with a program that already runs smoothly."
Felix nodded continuously: "Hmm, so what?"
"So our daily sleep quests should tag all teammates for a joint sweep."
"What does your logic have to do with your behavior?"
"Since we’ve managed to explore a behavioral pattern that everyone can barely accept, let’s not change it." Ash said: "If I do as you say by only inviting Sword Maiden or someone else, the consequences would be unpredictable, like tossing a flame—either it ignites a beacon of happiness or triggers an explosion in our high-risk building loaded with explosives."
"You also recognize you all are a high-risk building huh." Felix sighed softly: "But don’t you think—"
"As for feeling ashamed, I experience it every moment." Ash laughed: "But don’t make me out like a freak who only plays multiplayer games. We might be alone or grouped every night, but we have plenty of solo time; a few days ago I went to an exhibition with Sword Maiden, had tea and coffee with Witch, visited the Silver Lamp library, watched a play with Vishi... thinking back, I surprisingly completed four solo dates successfully, and nothing’s amiss on me, which is a huge progress I never dared to imagine before!"
"Normal couple’s routine duo dates become a daunting task for you..." Felix mocked with a smirk and couldn’t help but ask curiously: "Did you really watch a whole day of plays with sister Vishi? Is it one of those extremely creepy and bloody horror dramas? Or the crime records of Evil Mage?"
Ash shook his head: "No, just rewatched ’Mage 100%’ and watched the latest romance show ’The Thing Dangerous in Her Heart’. But Vishi insisted on watching at an accelerated speed; normal speed for dramas is a waste of time for her, and I had to talk her down to four times speed, so we finished both shows in one day."
"Didn’t go anywhere?"
"Didn’t go anywhere, we just spent the day at a private theater."
"Huh—" Felix rested her chin in her hand, "Kinda unexpected..."
"A bit for me too, after I already said I’d accompany her wherever she wanted, but Vishi said she didn’t want me to know about her interests, and asked what I wanted to do—I happened to want to rewatch ’Mage 100%’, so we went to the private theater." Ash tilted his head: "Honestly, just lazily watching shows with her for a day... was quite comfortable."
Felix looked at Ash’s face, which showed subtle happiness, she couldn’t help but feel irritated and threw a pillow over impatiently: "You sure have lots of crooked logic to explain your nightly partying..."
"You’re being petty." Ash retorted seriously: "In your view, it’s nightly partying, but actually it’s a key team-building activity for us to maintain rapport. Remember, our enemy is the strongest mages atop the pinnacle of civilization; even while we’re vacationing, the huge pressure from Supreme Star still looms over."
"Not sure if you get me, but it’s like a student hasn’t done their summer homework and becomes anxious at the thought of the holiday ending; if they agreed with friends to not do the homework, they would relax and muster the courage to face the fate of returning to school."
"Our nightly group activity acts to alleviate stress and boost morale; normally, teams build unity by engaging in life-risking adventures, learning to trust each other through battles, but we no longer have rivals on earth, so sharing a bed becomes our best way to maintain team synergy."
Ash spoke with increasing fluency, as if it made perfect sense: "Nothing warms you to others more than skin-to-skin contact; only by regularly confirming the teammates’ beliefs can you dispel internal doubts! So don’t assume I’m enjoying it; actually, I always uphold a substantial sense of mission, warming my teammates’ bodies and soothing their anxieties during every col... every party!"
"Were you just about to say ’sexy party’?" Felix said crossly: "Go wash up; it’s nearly time to head out."
Felix spent a minute at the wardrobe picking clothes, and Ash came out from washing up, now resembling a drenched dog in Felix’s eyes.
She rolled up her sleeves, pressing the dressed-up Ash in front of the dressing table, fixing his hair while asking: "Do you still like Blood Moon’s games?"
"I also like Gospel and Dazzling Star’s games, especially Gospel’s scripted games, with Gospel Divine Being hosting them, which is particularly interesting."
"But you’re a Demigod, and soon might become Supreme of Magic; do you still care for entertainment of that level?"
"You’re a Holy Sanctuary Mage; you liked painting as a child, so now you don’t like painting?" Ash grinned: "Supreme of Magic doesn’t mean I’ve experienced all beauty in the world... I still enjoy watching romance shows! Maybe after living decades or centuries, I’ll become a boring old blockhead, but for now, I still hold curiosity for the world."
Felix paused slightly, pretending not to care, asked: "How did you know I liked painting when I was a child?"
"Several times your selfies featured painting boards, sketchbooks, and paints... although I don’t understand art, I feel your drawings look quite nice; at least the ones of me capture eight-tenths of my charm!"
Felix was momentarily speechless, picked up foundation cushion and slammed it onto Ash’s face: "Have you got it wrong? I take photos for you to see me, not for you to notice those details! Just view my photos with eyes full of desire, stop getting other ideas!"
"Sometimes you’re really scary, Felix..."
Ash’s mouth twitched: "Later, I asked Gospel Divine Being and found out you were naturally talented at painting from a young age... but painting isn’t some shameful hobby; why do you hide it?"
