Chapter 106 106: Special Grade Cursed Object

3 weeks ago · 6 min read

Asuramaru did not plan to spend the remaining emotion points recklessly.

After unlocking Domain Expansion: Ashura Kannon and Way of the Hunter, he had less than fifty thousand emotion points left. That amount was better kept in reserve. No one knew what kind of situation might appear in this world, and the habit of leaving himself an escape route had already been carved into him.

Besides...

He still had to understand his current circumstances first.

After taking a moment to adjust, Asuramaru finally shifted his perception outward.

The first thing he noticed was that he seemed to be inside a young man's body.

The boy wore casual clothes, had distinct pink hair, and carried an air that was almost painfully youthful. There was something bright and straightforward about him, the kind of simplicity that had not yet been forced to rot by the world.

"Itadori Yuji?"

Memories of Jujutsu Kaisen surfaced in Asuramaru's mind.

The old jokes he had once made about fighting Sukuna suddenly felt rather prophetic.

He had not expected it to actually happen.

So this time, it really was his turn to deal with Sukuna.

From the looks of things, the story had only just begun.

Yuji was standing in front of a hospital nurse station, holding documents while speaking to a nurse.

"Thank you very much," Yuji said.

The nurse looked at him with concern. "Are you really okay?"

Yuji lowered his gaze. The grief in his chest had not disappeared. It was simply too fresh, too unreal, like a wound his body had not yet learned to feel.

"This kind of thing is a first for me," he said, forcing himself to keep his voice steady. "It still doesn't feel real. But if I stay gloomy forever, Grandpa will get mad at me."

He paused, then smiled.

"So I'll smile when I cremate him."

What a filial statement.

Inside his inner world, Asuramaru's lips curved slightly.

This time, he was not in a hurry.

With his current strength, killing Sukuna would not be impossible. The real question was when and how. Since the mission reward depended on how strong Sukuna was when he died, charging in blindly would only waste potential gains.

For now, observation came first.

At that moment, a voice sounded from a nearby corner beyond the reach of the light.

"You're Yuji Itadori, right?"

A young man stepped out from the shadows.

He had black hair, a cold expression, and wore a dark Jujutsu High uniform. His presence was sharper than that of an ordinary student.

"I'm Megumi Fushiguro from Jujutsu High. I need to talk to you."

"Huh?"

Yuji looked at the stranger, confused, but still walked over.

The two moved to a dim corner of the hospital hallway.

Megumi turned around and stared directly at him. His expression was grave.

"This is important."

He took out his phone and showed Yuji a photo of a small box.

"The Cursed Object in your possession is extremely dangerous. Hand it over immediately. It's the one in this photo."

Yuji leaned lightly against the wall and looked at the screen.

"This? I picked it up, but how is that thing dangerous?"

Megumi frowned, but still explained with unusual patience.

"Over ten thousand people go missing in Japan every year. Most of those cases are caused by Curses. Negative emotions from humans gather and give birth to Cursed Spirits. The object you found is one of the things that attract them."

His voice turned heavier.

"And it's Special Grade. The highest danger level. If you have it, hand it over now before someone dies."

Yuji stared at him for a second.

Megumi did not look like he was joking.

Half-believing him, Yuji took out the box and handed it over.

"Is it really that dangerous?" he asked. "But I already gave the thing inside to my seniors at school. They said they were going to peel off the paper talisman tonight."

Megumi's expression changed.

"Oh no."

The chill in his voice made Yuji straighten at once.

"Take me there. Now. If we're late, they could die."

"O-Okay!"

Yuji did not hesitate. He immediately turned and led the way.

The two left the hospital and rushed toward the school beneath the darkening night.

Inside the inner world, Asuramaru stood at the boundary where sky met sea.

His crimson eyes looked ahead.

"Domain Expansion: Ashura Kannon."

The moment his voice fell, the entire inner world trembled.

At the far horizon, where the sea touched the sky, a gigantic sword covered in strange runes descended from above.

It towered more than ten meters high.

Around it floated countless swords of varying sizes, each one carrying a different presence.

This was Asuramaru's first time opening the Domain, but the moment it manifested, he understood its structure.

That giant sword represented his first Sword Master, Tanjiro Kamado.

The swords surrounding it represented the demons he had killed and defeated. Among them were also Zenitsu, Inosuke, and the others.

As long as Asuramaru wished, he could expend Demon Power to summon them.

He did not hesitate.

Vast Demon Power poured into the Domain.

The runes around the giant sword lit up and began to turn. A figure stepped out from within the radiance.

The corners of Asuramaru's mouth lifted slightly.

The man before him wore a fitted fiery-red haori and carried two swords at his waist. His face was gentle, his gaze clear, and his body stood at the peak of youth.

It was Tanjiro Kamado in his twenties.

And Asuramaru could feel it.

This was not the old Tanjiro from the end of his life.

This was Tanjiro at his prime, one who could kill Muzan even without borrowing any special enhancements.

Now that they had entered a new world, and Asuramaru's power could break the restrictions of the previous one, even he could not say how strong Tanjiro would become here.

But that suited him just fine.

Soon, Sukuna would enter Yuji's body.

That would be the perfect chance to test Tanjiro's current strength.

Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture.

Sugisawa Third High School.

By the time Yuji and Megumi reached the school entrance, night had fully settled.

The building stood ahead of them in silence. Its windows were black. The air around it felt heavy, damp, and wrong.

Yuji stopped at the gate.

"What is this...?"

Even though he could not see Cursed Spirits properly, the pressure crawling out of the school was impossible to ignore.

Megumi stepped forward.

"Stay here."

Yuji's face tightened.

"I'm going too. I haven't known them for long, but they're still my friends. I can't just ignore them."

"Stay here," Megumi repeated, sharper this time.

Then he entered the school without waiting for a reply.

Yuji stood outside for a moment.

His grandfather's final words echoed in his mind.

You're strong, so help people.

Save as many as you can.

When you die, you should be surrounded by others.

Yuji clenched his fists.

The school ahead felt dangerous. Every instinct in his body warned him that stepping inside was a terrible idea.

But he stepped forward anyway.

Inside the sword, Asuramaru watched him and gave a small nod of approval.

He was gentle.

That much was clear.

Unfortunately, Asuramaru could not sense any particularly strong desire from him yet.

Meanwhile, Megumi had already entered the school building.

The moment he crossed the threshold, the presence of Cursed Spirits became even stronger.

"So the Curse has already been activated."

He formed a hand sign.

"Divine Dogs."

Shadows rippled at his feet.

From the darkness, two wolf-like shikigami emerged, one black and one white. They took position at his sides, low growls rumbling from their throats.

Ahead of him, grotesque Cursed Spirits crawled along the walls and ceiling. Their bodies were misshapen, twisted by resentment and filth, ugly in a way that seemed almost deliberate.

Megumi's expression did not change.

The Divine Dogs lunged.

Fangs tore through the Cursed Spirits one after another. Their shrieks echoed through the hallway, then vanished as the shikigami exorcised and devoured them.

Megumi advanced quickly.

But at the next corner, he stopped.

Something troublesome was waiting there.
