The Letter to Unknown Recipient (2)

Lee Gyeongbok made his decision.

The time he spent pondering that choice was extremely brief. It was because he had already decided in advance to pick whatever he personally wanted to do, regardless of the viewers' opinions.

― Let our hyung do whatever he wants!"

― No matter what he does, it's guaranteed to be super fun, right?"

― This is what they call the 'Perfect-Choice', I'm telling you!"

― ???: He nonchalantly does what we can't! That sends chills down my spine! Makes me admire him!"

― True Purple confidence is really worth learning, lol."

The manager was shocked at his decision.

"You're really going to enter the Federal Marshals Headquarters directly?"

"You're the one who suggested it, aren't you?"

When Lee Gyeongbok looked appalled, the viewers burst out laughing.

― For real, lol. Why is he surprised when he's the one that said it?"

― Say what needs to be said! Purka-Cola!"

― Manager: No, uh... I didn't think he'd actually go through with it."

― Isn't this just the dev sneaking in lines they wanted to say themselves? Hahahaha."

― ???: There's no way someone would pick this option, right?"

In contrast, the manager whispered with a grave expression.

"The Agency cannot assist you directly. If, by chance, the Federal Marshals learn of this, it could be difficult to contain the fallout. Are you absolutely sure you want to do this?"

As he asked again, the viewers instantly interpreted it.

― Translation: Are you out of your mind?"

― Ahaha, now that there's a speed bump, I want to do it even more."

― If you tell me not to, I just want to more~"

― ???: I don't want to do what you all are telling me!"

― But...it must really be hard, though, lol."

There was no doubt that this was the hardest choice. Lee Gyeongbok just smiled and nodded.

"It won't bring any harm to the Agency."

"Hoo, understood. I can't help you myself, but I'll do what I can."

With a solemn tone, the manager answered, then brought out and unfolded another paper.

"These are the blueprints of the Federal Marshals Headquarters. As you can see, the building has three floors, and the records room, where they store investigation materials, is on the second floor."

― Oh, lol, this really has a GAT vibe to it."

― They're actually setting out plans and plotting a crime in the wild west era, huh?"

― Heh! Crime? I'd call it improvisation, at least?"

― An Agency too skilled at improvising for it not to be suspicious."

While the viewers expressed their satisfaction over the cooperation, the manager continued his explanation.

"There are three entrances. The main entrance is used by the Federal Marshals, there's a side entrance for the other staff, and a rear door for bringing in criminals."

"The main entrance will be tough—so we'll have to go through one of the other two."

With Lee Gyeongbok's comment, the viewers agreed.

― Just disguise as a janitor or porter and sneak in?"

― I knew showing those port workers moving cargo at the start wasn't for nothing, hahaha."

― Oh, this is it!"

― Or, can't we just go for a bounty hunt?"

― That's not bad, actually. We could go in confidently?"

― Snag the bounty for some sweet infiltration?"

Looking at all the viewers advocating their own ideas, Lee Gyeongbok smiled.

"That's a good idea."

With those words, the viewers' attention focused back on him.

― The side entrance, right? You're going in through the side, right Matjji?"

― What if it's actually the side entrance but with a twist?"

― Lol, you're going to bust in smashing everything?"

― This way, we catch a wanted criminal and go in the back door, hahaha."

― For real, that's the way to do it so you don't have anything to be nervous about."

The chat lit up, hoping Lee Gyeongbok would side with their suggestions.

And his answer was simple.

"Let's just do both."

But that simple sentence was hard to grasp. Both? What did he mean?

As question marks flooded the chat, Lee Gyeongbok added an explanation.

"Disguise and bounty hunter—combine the two. Disguise as a wanted criminal."

― ?????"

― Insane reasoning."

― Are you a broadcasting genius or something? Lol."

― Wait, how can you just mash them like that?!"

― Hyung? Aren't you just doing whatever you want?"

― Is this allowed? Really?"

― Manager's going to cut this, right? Hahaha."

The viewers were bewildered, but Lee Gyeongbok revealed his chosen strategy to the manager.

"Oh...! Now that's a truly clever method!"

And the response was unexpectedly positive.

"However, I guess we can't use our own agents. Instead, I'll hire an actor to play the bounty hunter. I'll also get you a fake beard for the disguise."

The viewers were dumbfounded, but gave credit where it was due.

― ????"

― Why is the manager so excited?"

― Wow, this kind of play actually develops the story?"

― The freedom in this game is insane."

― Lol, I'm dying over here."

Lee Gyeongbok's choice looked like fun.

* * *

A dark night.

By the rear door of the Federal Marshals Headquarters, a lantern was burning. Under it, the sheriff guards were yawning lazily.

"What's this?"

"Hey you, halt."

To them, a bounty hunter on horseback approached slowly. He pulled the reins and brought his horse to a halt.

He nodded backward with his chin. Back there was Alex, tied up with a bushy fake beard attached.

"Got a filthy outlaw here. Brought the wanted poster, too."

The actor, dressed up as a bounty hunter, said this and held out some paperwork.

"Dutch Morgan?"

"Hmmm, never heard of the guy..."

The sheriffs cocked their heads. The actor's pupils flickered at their reaction.

― The crisis hits immediately?

― Will the fake be found out?

― Chingkingchingking chingkingchingking!

― WA! Suspense!

― There's no way they're gonna get caught from the opening cutscene, right? Haha

The viewers got tense as well, but soon the sheriffs responded with bored voices.

"Go on in."

"Nice work."

The actor accepted the wanted poster again and let out a boisterous laugh.

"Gotta make a living, don't we all!"

Quickly, he tied up his horse and only undid the ties on Alex's legs. As he let Alex off, the actor whispered.

"Damn it, is this really okay? Are we seriously not getting caught?"

"It's not over yet. Focus."

Alex replied in a low voice. The actor clenched his eyes shut, composed his expression, and continued.

"Walk properly, you miserable wretch!"

He berated Alex as they entered through the rear door. Though it was late, there were still sheriffs inside the building.

― Whoa, there's more of them than I thought.

― Why haven't they gone home?

― Bet it's for overtime pay.

― Lol, civil servants, ha!

― Well, as Federal Marshals, they really are public officials, lol.

The actor glanced around quickly. One sheriff made eye contact with him.

"Hey, mister!"

As he shouted, the other sheriffs turned their attention to him. The actor froze, plastering on a stiff smile.

"Udukhuuu? Udukhu...!"

"Stay calm."

As he gritted his teeth, nervous, alex tried to calm him down. Meanwhile, the sheriff pointed at him.

"First time bounty hunting? The jail's in the basement, so drop him off and head back up after!"

"Haha! You're very kind! Thank you!"

At last relieved, the actor laughed and took Alex down to the basement.

There, a jailer was sitting with his feet up on the desk.

He glanced at Alex and the actor, gave a dismissive wave.

"There's plenty of open cells tonight. Just put him wherever."

Rather than reply, the actor just nodded and shoved Alex into the nearest cell.

Then, after taking Alex's revolver, he frisked him once more.

"Guess I can goof off for a while, thanks to you!"

He let out an exaggerated laugh, undoing Alex's hand restraints. Then he walked out and proudly twirled the confiscated revolver to show off to the jailer.

"Take it easy!"

And with that, the actor disappeared.

The viewers immediately caught on to his intention.

- He still did the job, lol

- Now THAT's acting

- Spinning the gun to lull the jailer into complacency, it's killing me lol

- At least he's inside now

- But how's he gonna get out of the cell?

When the actor left, the cutscene ended. Now it was Lee Gyeongbok's turn.

"Looks like I need to take advantage of that jailer to open the door."

He quickly assessed the situation.

He was the only one locked up in the cell. In other words: the jailer had no one else to pay attention to.

― Guess the jailer's got the keys

― So, how do you swipe 'em? No gun, right?

― In the movies, they always pretend to be sick lol

― Haha, are we about to witness Godple's acting skills?

At the viewers' speculation, Lee Gyeongbok chuckled.

"You probably didn't notice, but during the frisk, he slipped something into my boot."

He reached into his boots and pulled something out. In his hands: a wad of bills and a folding razor.

― Money? Why's there suddenly money?

― A razor? Is he really going to have to kill the jailer?

― Whoa, that'll really make him wanted then?

― Is this the outlaw-alignment route?

The viewers were confused. Maybe the consequences would be as risky as the tough route suggested.

But Lee Gyeongbok remained cool-composed.

"No need to go as far as killing."

He didn't explain further and went straight into action.

Pressing against the bars, he hid the razor and waved the cash.

"Hey! Over here!"

"Hmm?"

The drowsy jailer scrunched his face and lifted his head. But on noticing the cash, he sneered.

"What's this? A bribe?"

The jailer stood up and approached the cell.

"Pathetic bug. You think this is some hick town? Think something like that's gonna work?"

"Knew it wouldn't, huh?"

"Do you have any idea how hard I worked for this badge? You think I'd throw that away for some pocket change?"

The jailer smirked contemptuously and reached out his hand.

"I'll just have to confiscate it as 'evidence'—urk!"

In a flash, Lee Gyeongbok grabbed him and yanked him closer. The jailer grimaced and then froze.

"If it were me, I'd go for the keys, not the gun."

At some point, Lee Gyeongbok pressed the sharp razor blade against the jailer's neck. The jailer gulped and slowly moved his hands.

― Jailer, lol, tried to take "evidence" and got caught, huh?

― That speed's insane

― This probably isn't the intended method, right?

― I thought he'd lure the jailer into the cell, but he just grabbed him immediately lol

― The true move is always Matjji's way lol

As the chat expressed their delight, Lee Gyeongbok laughed quietly. Maybe that laugh made the jailer even more nervous.

Trembling, the jailer unlocked the cell.

"Alright, good job."

Lee Gyeongbok took his gun and signaled with his chin to get into the cell.

Tense, hands up, the jailer entered the cell.

"Just think of it as bad luck."

With that, Lee Gyeongbok threw a lightning-quick hook. The jailer's jaw snapped to a 45 degree angle and he collapsed.

― Lol, that hook was too clean

― Jailer, he got what he deserved for slacking off on duty

― Should've frisked him more thoroughly lol

― Though, isn't this not how you're supposed to knock someone out? Lol

― Don't they usually gag or bind them or something?

-??? : "Just knock 'em out, it's easier!"

― Eliminating risks, that's the way

Lee Gyeongbok grabbed the sheriff's badge and hat. He tied up the jailer with a rope, locked the cell door.

"With this, someone would have to get real close to notice."

The bushy beard and low-pulled hat covered almost his entire face. Disguise complete, he cautiously went up to the first floor.

"Why can't you just pay me already!?"

On the first floor, a commotion was going on. Turning to look, Lee Gyeongbok saw the actor and the sheriffs arguing.

"I told you, there's no wanted outlaw named Dutch Morgan."

"If that's the case, then what is this wanted poster? And the outlaw I brought? Are you just stalling to avoid paying me?!"

The actor was loudly acting out a ruckus, grabbing all the sheriffs' attention.

― That bad-customer routine is on point lol

― Agency really hired a proper actor, lol

― What if it's not even acting though?

― Could just be his real personality, haha

― Is there a bonus for escaping quickly?

― For real, if you leave the cell late, the actor probably can't last either

Lee Gyeongbok didn't miss the chance. Moving swiftly to the second floor, he scouted the area.

'There are some sheriffs on the second floor, too.'

But none of them spotted Lee Gyeongbok. Using divine energy, he was able to read their patrol routes and avoid them.

― So smooth, just sneaking on up

― Whoa? That's all records?

― Geez, why are there so many!

― Don't tell me you have to search all that?

When Lee Gyeongbok entered the records room, viewers were shocked. Shelves lining the walls, and even more in the back, overflowing with files.

It felt like he'd stepped into a library.

'It's over here.'

But Lee Gyeongbok hesitated not at all. Thanks to divine energy, he'd already pinpointed the right spot.

Even without that, there was a way to search.

"The files are sorted alphabetically. If I just look for the L section..."

He rummaged through the shelves labeled 'L', then pulled out a torn letter envelope.

― Oh!"

― This is it!"

― The Marshals actually hid it, lol."

― But you can't escape the Perfect-Eye, right?"

― ???: Hey, yerim! Hurry up and check that letter!"

Viewers immediately demanded he check it. Lee Gyeongbok pulled out the letter inside and read it.

"Hm... There's not much here?"

The contents were very mundane.

Talking about the good weather, about tasty food lately, about buying new clothes—just idle small talk.

― What's this?"

― Is it some kind of code?"

― Ah, vertical reading!"

― Nothing shows up, damn, lol."

― ???: 'You will be a fisher of men.'"

― Food famous region, maybe?"

― Or, is the local specialty the fabrics?"

Viewers made their own guesses for the meaning. Still, that was only for a moment.

Lee Gyeongbok wrinkled his nose, then smiled and moved the letter toward a candlestick.

― ?????"

― Hyung?!"

― It's burning! Burning!"

― Huh? What's happening?"

― What's appearing?!"

The viewers, worried he'd burn it, were shocked for a different reason: new writing appeared on the letter as if by magic.

"Ah, you probably can't tell through the broadcast, but the letter smells like lemon."

Lee Gyeongbok explained.

Hearing "lemon," some viewers caught on.

― Ah, now I get it."

― Oh? I did this as a kid lol"

― Writing a letter with lemon juice—you know if you know."

― Though it depends on the school, too."

Writing with lemon juice becomes visible with heat. It's a basic secret letter technique.

Lee Gyeongbok read the newly visible message.

[The Galleon Island is nice for relaxing. But sometimes I miss life on the mainland. I wonder when I'll be able to return?]

"There it is."

Lee Gyeongbok and the viewers smiled at the newly appeared sentence.

― You punk! Gotcha!"

― We got you now!"

― If they're hiding on an island, it's a dead giveaway, right? Lol"

― What, a criminal relaxing at a resort? Yeah right!"

― Time for some justice!"

― ???: Do you know who I am? I'm Alex from the Preston Agency!"

― Lol, not really a detective line, though."

― Why is it Janlex, haha?"

One of the Hired Gun gang members was hiding on Galleon Island.

The true revenge was about to begin.
