Chapter 938: Oh Look, Test Subjects

You know... I never planned for this, ok?

Our ship crossed the boundary of the Inner Colonies and returned to Outer Colony space and we made one more jump before we were suddenly engaged by pirates.

Amber told me that this was a rather common tactic for pirates since people leaving the Inner Colonies would be used to the safety within those borders and let down their guard when flying through Outer Colony space.

And since most of the people leaving them are usually merchants or rich Inner Colonists out on some tour, it made them into rather easy marks for them to target.

The pirates must have also believed we were one such group and hit us with an interdiction blast before they started swarming us.

Well... Since they gave us this chance...

"I’m heading out with Authority," I declared, already flying out of the bridge to head to my Exo-Knight.

The other girls wished me good luck as I headed towards the Exo-Knight bay, passing by Nerissa who was looking quite alarmed by the fact we had suddenly stopped.

"What’s going on?" She asked as I got closer.

"Pirate attack. Stay in your room."

"Are... Are we going to be ok? Will they board us?"

I pointed at one of the dogs that was sleeping on its back in the corridor, "I think if they did board us, it would be terrible for them and perfect for us."

She paused and seemed to remember that we did indeed have an entire ship full of dogs that could easily tear any pirates apart if they chose to board us before nodding at me to hide inside her room.

I continued my way towards my Exo-Knight and, unfortunately, had to recall my tentacles from my girls since I was heading out of the ship.

Well... I already warned them ahead of time so it should be fine... Plus, they shouldn’t be near any dogs right now so they shouldn’t be freaked out about it.

I climbed inside my Exo-Knight and started the bootup sequence, my consciousness shifting to the machine itself as the docking arms released their grip on the Exo-Knight, allowing me to move freely.

A comms call came through and a screen popped up in the corner of my vision, showing Yumiko seated in front of the comms console.

"Mistress, radar scans indicate there’s five ships. Three B Class Heavy fighters, one B Class Heavy Bomber and a C Class Corvette."

"Got it. Guess this is the first combat test for my Exo-Knight."

Another screen popped up showing Ries’s excited face, "Boss!!! Please record all the combat data!! I wanna seeeeee!!"

I grinned at her, "Don’t worry, I will."

I initiated a recording of all the sensors and cameras before making my way towards the hangar door, taking a moment to do a final equipment inspection before I leapt out into the void of space.

Another screen popped up to show me a few red dots that marked the location of the pirate ships, all of them currently making a beeline towards my ship.

I angled myself and activated my boosters, shooting myself forward towards the pirates in a blur of speed.

Almost instantly, I got a lock on notification and spiralled away as a laser beam was shot at me from one of the Heavy Fighter’s main guns, the beam passing beside me and missing by an inch.

I narrowed my eyes at the ship that fired the laser at me that was already charging up its second shot.

I grabbed the autocannon stuck to my hip and activated my suit’s acceleration module.

The laser cannon on the ship lit up again right before I shifted diagonally towards the side in a speed that would have looked like I had teleported to the pirates.

The laser was then shot out from the turret, completely missing me entirely.

I was close enough to see the pilot of the Heavy Fighter widen his eyes when he saw me raising the autocannon to point at his ship.

He tried to bank away but a quick burst of kinetic rounds shattered the ship’s shields and shredded through the ship’s hull.

The pirate ended up getting sucked out into space through a hole in his cockpit that my kinetic shell shredded through, his corpse shooting off into the void of space before his ship exploded.

The remaining pirate ships immediately scattered, attempting to surround me with their numbers.

I levelled my autocannon at the Heavy Bomber first, firing another quick burst that shredded the ship and sent it spiralling away to be engulfed in an explosion that consumed the entire ship.

My shield flared as the turrets on the Corvette fired several kinetic rounds at me, the shells pinging off my shield and burning away before I dove below the Corvette to avoid the turrets.

I could have just destroyed it of course but... I’m planning on keeping this one alive.

The two Heavy Fighters spun back around and fired a hail of lasers at me, filling the space in front of me with laser projectiles.

My acceleration module had already cooled down by now so I activated it again, blinking to the space above the two Fighters to avoid the lasers.

Both pirates were looking around trying to find where I disappeared to and only one of them thought to look up, the pirate gaping as he saw me levelling my cannon at him right as I switched the cannon into shotgun mode.

With a pull of my trigger, the shell that came out of the barrel was separated into a cloud of pellets that shredded the pirate ship with holes and made it look like a slice of swiss cheese.

The engines of the ship sputtered for a moment before it blew out, sending the ship spiraling away into the void.

The last Heavy Fighter tried to bank away from me but I extended four of my wings to point the tip at it, shooting four beams of lasers that pierced through its shields and hull before it could even complete its turn.

I watched as the Heavy Fighter spiralled out of control and exploded, leaving only the Corvette remaining that was already turning away in an attempt to charge its Travel Drives to escape.

Once again, I activated my acceleration module and shot myself forward, right above where its engines were.

Squeezing the trigger of my autocannon, I blasted its rear and destroyed its thrusters, effectively stranding it with no way of propelling itself.

I floated towards it right as the turrets on the ship turned to face me, the pirates’ last and desperate attempt to save themselves.

Before they could fire, I grabbed the turrets by the barrels and ripped them off the ship, leaving it now both stranded and defenseless as it floated through space.

I then grabbed the ship and started pushing it towards my ship.

From where I flew, I could see into the bridge of the Corvette to see the pirates in a state of panic, a few of them making rude gestures in my direction before all of them disappeared out of the bridge.

I assume they realise that I was planning to bring them to my ship so that we could board their ship and they were getting ready to defend their ship from boarders.

It wouldn’t really matter anyway and I intend to take them alive so... They can struggle all they want.

I repositioned the pirate Corvette to the area right beside the Iridescence, allowing it to start the boarding procedure while I flew back into the Drow of Dawn to dock my Exo-Knight.

A call came through immediately and Ries’s face appeared, "Waaahhh!! That was so awesome Boss!! The data is so big!!"

I had to hold back my instinct to say something lewd and just nodded in acknowledgement at her before I moved the Exo-Knight to the docking bay, powering it down.

I didn’t bother using the lift to descend to the ground floor and merely used my telekinesis to float myself down and fly towards the cargo bay where the docking hatch waited for me.

A few of the dogs saw me and leapt to their feet to chase after me, probably thinking that I was here to play with them again.

Unfortunately, I had work to do so I had to ignore them and stand in front of the doors as they cycled open.

I raised my hand to project a telekinetic shield in front of me, right on time too as gunshots immediately filled the corridor as the pirates opened fire at the door the moment it slid open.

I stepped forward without a care and the gunshots continued until the pirates emptied their magazines and needed to reload, only to freeze in place to see me standing there with my hand raised and their kinetic rounds floating in the air.

And as if that wasn’t enough to show that they were fucked...

The growls of about ten or so dogs came from behind, all of the dogs just glaring at the pirates.

Ok... Calm down now... I need them alive girls...
