Chapter 32 – The Abomination

Kyle’s sword quickly approached the goblin shaman’s neck, about to behead it. However, the energy shield abruptly moved to intercept his strike.
“Clang!”
The shield cracked further, eventually exploding into countless shards. However, that was enough to defuse Kyle’s strike.
“Gah!”
The goblin shaman cried as fire suddenly appeared at the tip of its wand. It swung its wand at Kyle, intending to incinerate him, but the latter quickly jumped back, appearing more than a dozen meters away.
“Tch, this monster is tough,” Kyle muttered under his breath.
“Ha!!” Doyle roared as he rampaged through the goblin horde like a tank, sending one goblin after the other flying. A few even splashed across the cave’s walls like squashed mosquitoes.
“Fire arrow!” Aaron suddenly shouted as a 30-centimeter-long, arrow-shaped fire flew from the tip of his staff, heading straight for the goblin shaman.
“Ga!!”
The green monster cried out, intercepting Aaron’s spell with a green energy burst.
Kyle did not waste this opportunity.
However, this time. He went for the goblin warrior in the middle of the ritual.
His sword swiftly reached for the goblin warrior’s neck, intending to behead it. However, the latter raised its left arm, blocking his slash. The blade pierced through its leather armor and flesh before getting stuck in its bone.
“Gah!”
The goblin warrior raised its other arm trying to capture him, but Kyle struck first. He pushed [Mana enhancement] to its limits, driving most of it to strengthen his leg before kicking the goblin warrior away, sending it skidding across the stone floor.
Kyle used the reaction force to jump back, somersaulting in the air before solidly landing on the ground.
The ritual has been interrupted.
“Nice work, Kyle!” Doyle praised as he swatted another wave of goblins away.
“Humans!!!!!”
The goblin shaman screeched, its eyes turning completely red.
“How…Dare…You!!!”
“Hmph, you’re finished, monster.” Aaron sneered.
He started quickly chanting, intending to finish off the remaining goblins.
It seemed that the goblins’ conspiracy had been thwarted. Just as they were about to finish off the remaining monsters…
“GAH!!!”
The goblin warrior heaved an earth-shattering howl.
It clutched its head, trembling with pain as green blood oozed from its arm wound.
‘Green blood? Even though goblins are green, their blood has always been red. Is it the effect of the ritual? this…’ Just as Kyle was looking at the unusually colored blood seeping from the goblin warrior’s arm, the next mutation caused his eyes to widen.
The left side of the goblin warrior started to squirm. It was as if countless insects were moving under its skin.
“Gwaahh!!!!!”
It howled in agony as the left side of its body started swelling. Tumors burst from its skin, oozing blood, as its muscles expanded and skin tore. Its leather armor stretched to its limits, its straps bursting as they became too tight for its massive body.
Its eyes turned completely red as its capillaries burst, causing blood to ooze out from them.
The three of them watched in horror as the 1.8-meter-tall goblin warrior gradually swelled to over 3 meters. Its proportions were extremely unequal, with its left side being nearly 3 times bigger than its right side.
Its left arm alone had quadrupled in size, becoming bigger than a human.
“What kind of monstrosity is this?” Aaron said with a look of horror on his face.
Doyle’s expression became graver than ever before.
“The Old Imperial Cult…” Doyle barely managed to squeeze this sentence from his mouth.
“Only those madmen who play with life at will can create such monstrosities.” He clutched his shield, focusing entirely on the howling goblin warrior.
“Th…Those madmen? But how did they get involved in this? How did these goblins get their stuff?” Aaron stuttered, his expression turning nervous.
“Guys, we can talk about that later. That monster is starting to move.” Kyle stopped next to Doyle and said with a serious expression.
“Hu…Mans! You…Will…Regret this!”
The goblin shaman howled with a distorted expression on its face. Its eyes oozing with hatred and malice.
“Gah!!”
The goblin shaman screeched as it pointed its staff at them, a deep green flaming orb shot from the tip of its staff, flying straight towards them.
Kyle and Doyle quickly moved away as the flaming orb traced through the air, eventually colliding with the stone floor, creating a small crater.
“I’ll hold back that abomination, deal with the goblin shaman as fast as you can!” Doyle shouted before running towards the stumbling goblin warrior abomination.
“Understood!” Aaron said as he pointed his staff at the goblin shaman while taking out a glass container and gulping its contents.
As an apprentice mage, he doesn’t have a lot of mana, especially after the previous cross-level spell. Therefore, he can only use a magic potion to accelerate his recovery rate as much as possible.
Kyle didn’t say a thing. He sprang toward the goblin shaman at a breakneck speed, constantly moving around it, looking for an opening.
A semi-circular energy shield constantly moved around it as the goblin shaman warily watched Kyle’s movements.
Their confrontation continued for several tense seconds, waiting for the other party to show a flaw.
And it was the goblin shaman who cracked first.
“Agh!!!”
The goblin warrior howled in agony as it waved its giant left arm, striking the ground and creating a massive crater.
This attracted the goblin shaman’s attention.
Kyle and Aaron did not miss this flaw.
“Wind bullet!”
Aaron suddenly shouted as he pointed his staff at the goblin shaman. The latter quickly shifted its energy barrier to block the spell.
[Phantom Step]
However, Kyle appeared on the other side at such a speed that the goblin shaman couldn’t react at all.
A silver light flashed in the dim cave. The next moment, the goblin shaman’s head was flying.
