Chapter: 19 Slave Dealer

2 weeks ago · 3 min read

A corpulent man waddled through the corridors, his every step accompanied by the faint quivering of his jowls.

Draped in ostentatious robes that screamed of wealth and privilege, he exuded an air of entitled arrogance.

In his chubby hands, he clutched an assortment of cruel implements, his sinister grin revealing a mind reveling in sadistic delight.

“Ah, today’s sales were exceptional,” he muttered to himself, his voice a mix of glee and greed. “Products sold like pancakes... unimaginable profits! Hehehe... Tonight, I’ll celebrate with that new girl from two weeks ago!”

His cruel laughter echoed as he descended into the hidden depths of the mansion. Behind a concealed door, he entered a dimly lit chamber lined with iron cages.

Inside, the air was thick with despair. Young women of various ages huddled in the cramped confines of their cages, their gaunt figures reflecting the cruelty of their imprisonment.

Once vibrant and hopeful, their eyes now bore only emptiness, a reflection of the unspeakable horrors they had endured.

Among them, a girl of fifteen sat curled in the corner of her cage. Her trembling frame was illuminated by the faint light filtering into the room, her hollow eyes staring at nothing.

Memories of my parents’ final moments haunted me relentlessly.

I could still hear their screams, still see the blood staining the ground where they fell.

The horror of that day played endlessly in my mind.

Clutching the only remnant of my mother, a frayed piece of cloth, I felt the ache in my chest grow deeper.

Days of sobbing had left my eyes dry, unable to shed another tear.

I glanced at the others in the cages around me. Some stared blankly into the distance, their hope long extinguished.

Others, already broken beyond repair, awaited their fates in silence.

I knew what happened to those who were taken. The pig-like man returned them broken and battered, their emaciated bodies succumbing to pain within a day.

They never spoke of what transpired, but their lifeless expressions spoke volumes.

'This was the fate that awaited me,' I thought bitterly, resignation washing over me like a wave.

The sound of the man’s heavy footsteps jolted me from my thoughts. His grotesque silhouette loomed closer as he approached my cage, his piggish eyes gleaming with cruel intent.

He rapped the iron bars with a rod, expecting a reaction, but I remained motionless. A look of irritation crossed his face as he realized I had given up.

“Damn... already broken,” he muttered, his voice dripping with annoyance. “I have more fun with the ones who still have hope. Oh well, I’ll make do. Broken or not, she’ll do for tonight’s celebration.”

His pudgy fingers reached for the cage door, his grin widening as he prepared to open it.

WISHHH

The sound of the wind whistling through the chamber made the candles flicker before extinguishing, plunging the room into darkness.

Only the faint glow of moonlight filtered through a small iron-barred window, illuminating the uppermost portion of the chamber.

“Damn it! Windy tonight, huh?” the man muttered, fumbling toward a nearby drawer. “I’ll have to find those matches. No servant is ever around when you need them!”

The whistling wind sounded again, but this time it was accompanied by a bloodcurdling scream.

“AHHHH!!” The man’s guttural cry shattered the silence. He collapsed to the floor, clutching the bleeding stump where his arm had been severed.

Blood pooled beneath him, its crimson stain spreading rapidly across the cold stone.

“W-What the hell is happening?!” he shrieked, his voice trembling with terror.

Before he could crawl to safety, a powerful kick sent him hurtling into the wall, where he crumpled beneath the narrow beam of moonlight.

“GUARDS!” he screamed, desperation lacing his voice. “Where are the damn guards?! Get in here now!”

The shadows seemed to mock him, answering his cries with silence. Trembling, he clawed at the ground, trying to drag himself toward the exit.

“ARGHHH!”

Another scream tore from his throat as a long, curved dagger shot from the darkness, impaling his remaining arm.

Blood poured freely from the fresh wound, his cries growing weaker with each passing moment.

The wind howled once more, carrying with it a chilling silence as the shadows closed in.
