Chapter 919 - 919: [919] : An Unexpected Savior
12 hours ago · 5 min read
Though Super Perfect Cell hadn't caught Trunks, he arrived just moments after him.
The two stood before the time machine, one towering over the other, locked in a tense standoff.
Trunks knew that even if he scrambled to activate the time machine, he could never be faster than Super Perfect Cell.
But if Cell attacked first, he might not be able to stop Trunks from escaping.
And so, they found themselves in a strange stalemate, a moment where any single variable could alter the destiny of the world. For anyone watching, it would have been a heart-stopping moment, a breath held in anticipation of the world's fate.
But no one was watching. No one even knew what was happening here. It was as if the world itself was under a strange influence, causing everyone to forget things of great importance.
Suddenly, Trunks's hand shot toward the control lever.
But before he could pull it, Super Perfect Cell reacted. He unleashed a massive Ki blast, and in an instant, the time machine was blown to smithereens.
Trunks's face went ashen.
He knew Cell had no fear of destroying the time machine. For him, it meant that no one in the world could ever challenge him again. With humanity's last hope gone, Cell could slaughter them all and crown himself the strongest being in the world.
No, the strongest in the entire universe.
With such a thought, it was only natural that Cell's ambition would swell to monstrous proportions.
Trunks was utterly disheartened.
He had believed himself to be the world's savior, the last hope for humanity.
But he had never imagined Super Perfect Cell would be this powerful.
Cell's overwhelming strength had completely shattered his plan. According to his original strategy, he was supposed to travel to the past, alter the timeline, grow stronger, and return to kill Cell.
But now, the time machine was gone. All hope was lost.
Just as Trunks sank into despair, Shin appeared before him.
Trunks knew Shin was incredibly strong, but he couldn't possibly be stronger than Goku in his Super Saiyan 2 form, could he?
Even Trunks, who knew Shin's power best, had never considered him a part of the plan to save humanity.
Still, he was immensely grateful that Shin had risked his life to save him. He just held no hope that Shin could actually succeed.
But things took a turn for the better.
Shin formed a hand seal in mid-air.
<Sage Art: Myōjinmon!>
However, the giant crimson torii gates that slammed down from the sky couldn't inflict any damage on Cell. After all, Super Perfect Cell's power now far surpassed that of a Super Saiyan 2.
Finally, Shin decided to unleash his own Super Saiyan form. His hair stood on end, turning a brilliant gold, and his body was wreathed in a golden aura. Tiny bolts of lightning crackled around him—this was the second state of Super Saiyan.
But even in this state, Shin's Sage Art, amplified by his Super Saiyan power, couldn't do any real damage to Super Perfect Cell.
He did, however, have another idea. He could use the Edo Tensei to create a distraction. Uchiha Madara and the others were of little use against Cell now. If he wanted to change the situation, he needed someone stronger—someone like Goku.
But Goku was dead, and he had left nothing behind.
Under the current circumstances, if he wanted to summon Goku with the Edo Tensei, he would have to use the weaker version he had summoned before. But that reanimated Goku was weak, only able to reach the first Super Saiyan form. He couldn't even compare to Shin, let alone a Super Saiyan 2.
Shin's mind raced, but he knew one thing for certain: he had to save Trunks. If he didn't, the future of this world would be a complete unknown.
Besides, Trunks was the only person in this world who knew his secrets. If Trunks was gone, Shin's connection to this world would grow even more distant. He'd become a ghost, a drifter with no connection to this reality.
Shin decided to take a shot in the dark. He would summon the weaker Goku first and see if there was any connection to the Goku of this world. If there was, he might be able to strengthen him, push him to a Super Saiyan 2 state. That would be enough to defeat Super Perfect Cell.
But who could know for sure? No one.
After all, Goku was well and truly dead, but his soul might still exist in this world. But if his soul was still here, why hadn't he appeared? He could have guided Gohan or Vegeta to reach Super Saiyan 2 and fight Cell. This was something Shin couldn't wrap his head around.
According to the original story, it was the deceased Goku who pushed Gohan to unleash his full potential and enter the Super Saiyan 2 state, defeating Super Perfect Cell and saving the world.
How could he possibly defeat Cell on his own? Shin fell into a heavy silence. Though his mind was elsewhere, he continued to fight Super Perfect Cell.
Seeing that Shin's state was unstable and that he wasn't using any of his ultimate moves, Cell decided to test him with a Ki blast.
Shin had no choice but to counter with a Fire Style jutsu.
The two energy attacks collided with a deafening roar, erupting in a massive fireball that lit up the Dragon Ball world. Everyone turned their gaze to the source of the light, a place now filled with roiling energy. Cell used Ki, but Shin used Chakra. He still wasn't used to wielding energy without an elemental nature.
For someone from the world of Naruto, this was incredibly difficult. It was like asking someone who'd only ever used a surgeon's scalpel to perform surgery with a sledgehammer. Awkward, clumsy, and deeply unnatural.
