Chapter 1704 - 1259: We Are the Gods of Four Pillars (2)

3 weeks ago · 4 min read

"Although it can’t be considered the main storyline, the tug-of-war between The Gods of Four Pillars and the mage civilization indeed runs through the history up to now."

Ash thought for a moment, somewhat puzzled: "But isn’t the mage civilization always progressing, constantly creating new rules? Shouldn’t the powers of The Gods of Four Pillars be compressed to a very small size? Yet I feel that although they don’t dare to confront a Divine Lord, they aren’t exactly weak either."

Death Mad glanced at him, "Although The Gods of Four Pillars aren’t very intelligent, the mage civilization also inadvertently brings them along as it progresses."

"Take the Prince’s indulgence power as an example. Is the entertainment program you anticipated in Shattered Lake Prison the same as the entertainment program you now anticipate with a large group of lovers? The mage civilization is the same; the extravagant waste from tens of thousands of years ago compared to today’s indulgent debauchery— which degree do you think is higher?"

"The more mages create violent rules, the more cruel violence is born; the more they pursue truth, the more unknown they discover; the more they pursue eternal life, the more they feel insufficient; the more they indulge, the harder it is to satisfy."

"So, The Gods of Four Pillars aren’t Divine Beings. They are forever on the edge of darkness beyond the mage civilization, but only the rules within civilization are considered Divine Beings. They are occasionally a forward-moving lighthouse, but more often a bait for downfall. They are history, they are the present, they are the future, they are an eternal phenomenon."

"Then how do you kill them?" Ash asked.

"Just enter the Divine Domain and grab them like pulling weeds, then cut off their heads with one sword."

Ash was speechless: "Is fooling me fun?"

"Do you have a problem?" Death Mad looked at him coldly.

"No!"

Death Mad kicked the helmet by his foot aside, took a puff of smoke, and slowly said, "The Gods of Four Pillars are an eternal phenomenon, but their consciousness isn’t eternal life. In fact, they’ve already changed several generations. For a Divine Lord, entering the Divine Domain and killing those nasty beasts is troublesome but not impossible. It’s even simpler for me. Basically, whenever we reach a new world line, the first step is to kill The Gods of Four Pillars—"

"Wait!" Ash suddenly reacted, staring at Death Mad: "You entered the Divine Domain... have you already descended into this world?"

Death Mad looked at Ash’s bewildered expression, feeling inexplicably irritable inside, took a heavy puff of smoke and said grumpily: "Didn’t you just kiss Sonia? Why do you taste smoke from her mouth?"

"So...?"

"You’ve paid 3/4 of the spirit. Although we can’t descend into the world yet, it’s still easy to enter the Divine Domain through you." Death Mad said calmly: "You are our touch."

Ash let out a long breath, feeling relieved: "So that’s how it is..."

"Back to The Gods of Four Pillars—"

"What about Rose?" Ash asked nervously: "You didn’t hurt her, did you?"

"Rose?" Death Mad raised an eyebrow: "You can’t be referring to... the Fifth Pillar God, can you? She hasn’t awakened yet, so of course I haven’t dealt with her... but can normal people no longer satisfy you now? Where did you crawl out from the trash can, that even an Evil God is within your hunting range?"

"Rose isn’t an Evil God." Ash said seriously: "I’m her only believer, and she’s my only faith."

"But she will be, sooner or later." Death Mad coldly laughed: "A fishmonger inevitably smells fishy, a carnivore’s mouth is bound to be full of blood. It’s not about her wishes, it’s about her sitting in the position of a Pillar God, remaining in the darkness on the edge of mage civilization, and inevitably becoming an Evil God that tempts mortals into depravity... How can the direction oppose the arrow, how can sunlight oppose the sun, how can a Pillar God defy entropy increase?"

"Then let’s talk about it sooner or later." Ash said firmly.

"If there truly is a sooner or later." Death Mad raised her chin, eyes revealing a touch of evil: "I’m rather curious to see you repent... The more you love them now, the more you’ll hate them in the future... really want to see the outcome you deserve."

"How could I detest them?"

"You dare to rebut because you’re currently in a passionate love stage coupled with immense external pressure forcing you to unite." Death Mad said: "Rather than compromise, you have no conflicting interests at all. Even Sonia’s possessiveness is simply acting out... it’s literally the young love in school, always on the go, always looking ahead."

"But eventually, you will settle down, the girls won’t always be infatuated, nor will you. That’s when the real torment begins." She coldly laughed: "As the novelty fades, relationships will become mundane, leading to mutual boredom, eventually mutual disgust, only staying together because of interests and inertia... How, dare you say you’ll treat her as you did at the beginning forever?"

"Even if you dare to promise, who can say they’ll never change? Lissdia can cling to you like a silly girl now, but can she remain so naive and innocent in the years to come? Youlan Weiser only hopes you embrace happiness now, but won’t she plan for herself once you’re soaking in a honey pot of happiness? Vishi... When possessing you can simultaneously achieve ’love’ and ’ideals,’ I wouldn’t be surprised at any of her actions."

"As for Sonia, I won’t even mention her. The only reason she’s willing to tolerate is because your adventure isn’t over yet."
