Chapter 1989 - 1982: Survival Game

"My Great Qin... has fallen?" Ying Zheng looked utterly lost. He always believed that his Great Qin Empire could prosper forever, even ruling the whole Blue Star. Hearing from Zhang Menglong that Great Qin had already perished, it was hard for him to accept for a moment.
"Impossible! My Great Qin has thousands of iron cavalry. I had long swept through Taihe and dominated the Eight Desolates. Who could threaten my Great Qin Empire? Could it be those barbarians from the north?"
"Not quite," Zhang Menglong said, "The combat strength of the Great Qin Empire is still formidable. If it had continued to develop, it might have conquered the West, and the Great Wall could have been in Western architectural style. Who knows, the Statue of Liberty could be established in Great Qin, and perhaps we wouldn’t have to learn English in elementary school!"
Thinking of this, Zhang Menglong suddenly felt that the unification of the world by Great Qin would have been quite beneficial. After all, when Emperor Qin Shi Huang ascended the throne, he unified currency, script, and measurements.
If Westerners dared to cause trouble, the Great Qin cavalry would have just charged over, achieving global unification, and students would only need to learn Chinese.
Moreover, there wouldn’t be such a mess of history, and arts students wouldn’t suffer from those troublesome histories.
"So how did my Great Qin perish?"
"Your son, named Hu Hai, and that eunuch Zhao Gao took control of the court, causing the entire Great Qin to be filled with hardships and grievances. Not long after, descendants of those feudal lords began to revolt, and eventually, a pavilion chief named Liu Bang from Si Shui Pavilion replaced it, establishing the Han Dynasty."
"Damn that Hu Hai!" Hearing this, Ying Zheng couldn’t help but curse his son for betraying him.
Riches don’t last beyond three generations, and now it didn’t even last two.
"That’s not right; I issued an edict for my son Fusu to inherit the throne. How did it become Hu Hai?"
"Wasn’t it your ministers?" Zhang Menglong said, "They all formed various factions to seek benefits for their own parties. If Fusu had ascended to the throne, with his talent and character, he naturally wouldn’t have allowed those things to happen, something they wouldn’t want to see."
"Those damned bastards!" Ying Zheng started cursing again, "The great foundation I built was ruined like this. Had I known, I would have shot that disgraceful fellow into a wall."
Zhang Menglong twitched at the corner of his mouth, unsure since when Ying Zheng became so good at cursing.
"What happened later?" After all, it had been thousands of years. Ying Zheng slightly adjusted his emotions and gradually regained his composure.
"In the following two thousand years, Huaxia has been through many ups and downs," Zhang Menglong gave Ying Zheng a lively history lesson, his expression becoming increasingly complex as he listened.
Deep in his heart, as the emperor of Great Qin, Ying Zheng had always regarded this country as his private property. But hearing about the devastation brought by wars later reignited his anger.
"Hmph! Had I not left Blue Star, when would those tiny specks of land dare intrude?" Ying Zheng gritted his teeth, "Had I been on Blue Star at that time, I would have submerged those small countries, slaughtering everyone!"
"What? Massacring 300,000 of my people? When I return one day, I’ll have to kill 30 million to vent my anger!"
"Everything’s trying to bully the land of my Great Qin descendants now, aren’t they? If I hadn’t found a new goal years ago, I’d have flattened the entire Blue Star with my cavalry, letting Great Qin’s flag fly in every corner!"
"You’re still so imposing!" Zhang Menglong gave a thumbs up. Given Ying Zheng’s character, he could definitely do those things. After all, the establishment of Great Qin was forged through mountains of corpses and seas of blood, slaughtering more people than Zhang Menglong has had meals.
Zhang Menglong and Ying Zheng talked a lot. If those around hadn’t reminded them that they had been chatting for a long time, they might have continued even longer.
It was also during their conversation that Zhang Menglong learned Ying Zheng had many rough experiences over the past two thousand years. It could be said that danger accompanied opportunity; many times, he narrowly escaped death, but he ultimately survived.
Many of the worlds Zhang Menglong had experienced, Ying Zheng had also been through, though he didn’t come from the God Race’s world. He was already an emperor of a small world and happened to find a door by chance, which he used to come here.
According to his description, that door was almost identical to the one Zhang Menglong opened. Zhang Menglong boldly speculated that there are many such doors scattered across different worlds, and only those with great fortune and courage have the chance to come here.
"So, Brother Ying Zheng, what exactly is this place?" Zhang Menglong still hadn’t figured out where he was. "When I touched that door, it told me it was the Supreme World, but it doesn’t look like it!"
"That’s what we initially thought," Ying Zheng said, "but we were too naive. The Supreme World isn’t so easy to reach."
"You mean, this isn’t the Supreme World yet?"
"Of course not," Ying Zheng sighed, "This is just the entrance to the Supreme World. I have stayed here for 127 years; do you know how I endured these 127 years?"
"Entrance? That’s a novel concept," Zhang Menglong said.
"This place is practically a game created by the Supreme World," Ying Zheng said. "You know, besides people like us, this place has many characters created by the world’s rules."
"Hmm?" Zhang Menglong hadn’t noticed this point, but now he saw someone standing in front of a slightly respectable-looking house not far away.
Everyone else was gathered around Ying Zheng; only this person looked out of place.
"You can try talking to him," Ying Zheng said.
Though puzzled, Zhang Menglong still approached the person and said, "Hello?"
The person glanced at Zhang Menglong and then said, "Young man, want to buy something from me?"
As soon as this sentence was finished, a product list appeared before Zhang Menglong’s eyes.
"??? NPC?" Zhang Menglong exclaimed in shock. This person was like a character from a game!
The product list contained all sorts of resources, like food, building materials, medicine, metals, and so on, anything that could be named was available for purchase here.
Everything was bought using a fixed currency called Supreme Coins.
"As you can see," Ying Zheng said, "this world is like a game, and we’re just players in it, manipulated by an invisible hand. Welcome to this survival game!"
