Prologue - This is The End... Or Is It?

The dungeons showed up on a Tuesday.
Nobody knows where they came from. One day the ground cracked open in a thousand cities, and things climbed out. Monsters. Aliens. Stuff nobody had a name for yet.
A lot of people died that first week.
You'd think the world would panic. It did, for about a month. Then something worse happened.
We figured out you could make money off them.

The dungeons dropped gold. Real gold — and better. Magic gear. Weird items. Power. So the companies moved in. They mapped the dungeons. Rated them. Sold tickets. They turned "not dying to a monster" into a job with a name tag and a dental plan.
By year two, diving wasn't scary anymore. It was a career. People put it on their resumes.
By year three, it was content.
Now you can't open your phone without some influencer live-streaming a boss fight. "Guys, this dungeon is SO underrated, the drops are insane, use my code for ten percent off—" right before something with too many teeth eats them on camera. Their fans drop a crying emoji and scroll to the next one.
That's the world now. The apocalypse got a marketing department.
