Chapter 26 26: King Slime’s Loot

1 month ago · 5 min read

[Exploring unknown world. This process will take at least 12 hours.]

"So I still have to wait… I thought it'd find one instantly."

Seeing the prompt, Drake felt a little disappointed.

Still, that gave him time to take care of other matters.

Before entering a new world, there was still plenty to deal with in Orario.

About ten minutes later, Lili also arrived in the room. After seeing Drake, she let out a breath of relief and took a large pile of items out of her inventory.

"Master, this is everything that dropped."

"Good."

Drake nodded in satisfaction. As a supporter, Lili's ability to recover loot was beyond question.

"Um… Master, are you really okay?"

After setting everything down, Lili looked Drake over worriedly.

Following Drake's instructions, she had gone to the battlefield after the fight ended, only to find a huge crater.

The crater was littered with large amounts of gel—materials left behind after the slimes died.

Apart from that, there were only scattered clumps of dirt and the loot buried under the soil.

"I'm fine. No need to worry."

Drake shrugged and smiled.

He really was fine. He had only died once, after all.

"Now let's see what kind of surprise King Slime left me."

He casually tossed standard items like Gel and Lesser Healing Potions into his inventory.

Then, his mood lifting, he picked up a blue bag bound with golden thread.

This was a Treasure Bag, a drop that only came from boss-class enemies in Terraria!

Inside, it could contain powerful items unique to that specific boss!

"Besides the base-game items, there should also be drops added by the Calamity mod."

"Otherwise… there's no way King Slime would have been that hard to beat."

Normally, King Slime in vanilla Terraria was extremely easy to handle.

It did not have the low-health berserk phase or the crown-gem stage Drake had just gone through.

After opening the Treasure Bag, Drake directly used Appraisal on everything inside.

In an instant, his vision was filled with colorful information windows!

[Royal Gel (Rainbow): Slimes become friendly toward you.]

[Solidifier (White): Used to craft gel-themed furniture.]

These two items were guaranteed fixed drops.

Royal Gel was an equippable accessory with rainbow rarity.

That rarity color meant it was a boss-exclusive signature item.

As for the effect… it wasn't necessarily especially powerful.

For example, Royal Gel's effect was simply that slimes in Terraria would no longer attack you on their own.

Though if you attacked them first, they would still turn hostile.

For Drake, that effect was only so-so, but he could give it to Lili.

That way, when she was working around the house, she would have one less thing to worry about.

The Solidifier was a workstation. With it, the gel Drake had on hand could be turned into all kinds of gel furniture.

After those two fixed drops came several chance-based items.

They were a sticky-looking hook, two pieces of black clothing, and a saddle.

[Slime Hook (Orange): Fires sticky hooks, up to 3 at once.]

[Ninja Shirt (Blue): Grants 4 defense and increases critical strike chance by 3%.]

[Ninja Pants (Blue): Grants 3 defense and increases critical strike chance by 3%.]

[Slimy Saddle (Yellow): Summons a rideable slime mount.]

"Pretty lucky."

After going through all the loot, the smile on Drake's face never once faded.

The two most valuable items from King Slime—the Slime Hook and the Slimy Saddle—had both dropped in a single run!

If he remembered correctly, the Slimy Saddle had a slightly higher drop rate at 50%, while the Slime Hook was only 33%, or one in three.

The chance of both dropping together was only one in six, and yet he had actually hit it!

As for the other two pieces of Ninja gear, he was still missing the helmet.

That wasn't bad luck on Drake's part, though—the Treasure Bag could only drop two pieces of Ninja Armor at most.

If he wanted the full set, he'd have to fight King Slime a few more times.

The set bonus for Ninja Armor was a 20% movement speed increase, which wasn't bad.

But it came at the cost of a lot of defense.

In Drake's eyes, that trade wasn't really worth it.

Overall, this boss challenge had yielded a huge harvest.

The only real pity was that it hadn't dropped the Calamity-exclusive King Slime item—the Crown Jewel.

"Yeah… a 10% drop rate really is too low."

"I'll just fight it a few more times. With the hook and the mount now, taking on King Slime again should be much easier."

Under Lili's curious gaze, Drake equipped the hook onto his arm and raised his hand slightly.

A blue hook, with a texture almost like gel, shot outward and latched onto a corner of the ceiling.

The next moment, Drake's body was pulled up and fixed against the ceiling.

"So this is what using a hook feels like in real life…"

Dangling upside down from the roof, Drake felt the blood rushing to his head.

"It's convenient, definitely, but I'll need some time to get used to it."

With the hook, his mobility had improved dramatically.

Combined with the double jump, it would let him move across all kinds of complicated terrain as if walking on flat ground!

At the very least, going back into places like the Underground Jungle would be much easier now.

"Master, what are we going to do next?"

Lili looked up at Drake, her amber eyes full of curiosity.

"We're going to clean up the shop in Babel Tower. You're coming with me."

Drake retracted the hook and landed lightly.

Since he couldn't return to Terraria for the moment, it was easier to keep Lili by his side.

"And remember, in Orario, call me Captain."

"Yes, Master—ah, I mean, Captain."
