Chapter 1743

[1644] – Y07.144 – Radiance IX

Though the half elf’s heart pulsed, it fell at ease as the woman continued to adore his children, from the thrilled triplets, to the troublesome twins, the woman going so far as to brush and braid their hair, slipping beads onto their hair with gently trembling fingers.

Though Jirot knew her scarf was going to hide her hair, she eagerly allowed the woman to style her hair, and her amber eyes gleamed with an innocent adoration for the woman, who treated her so tenderly, as her grandmother would, though the girl held some apprehension from the word Malika, not quite as heavy as the title of grandmother, but it stayed her troublesome heart.

Amalrot soon found a shadow looming over her, though she was soon defeated by the shadow, of the fingers of the Amira, which fed the little girl all manner of fruits, though mostly mango, for the mangos of the capital were unrivalled. It was the mango gardens of the royal family which possessed their own elite force to watch over them, though they were not quite as precious as the children here, and the force was not quite as elite as those watching over such treasures.

‘I should make her a potion soon, but…’ Adam’s eyes fell to his children, those he had surrendered to the royal family of Aswadasad, for it was not a good idea to make an enemy of them, even if it was worth it to spoil his children, not when Aswadasad may be a future ally to the children. ‘I’ll spoil the children first and then I’ll make the potion?’

“Malika, are you okay?” Jirot asked, tilting her head slightly, the beaded braids clacking lightly.

“I fear a weariness besets me, and I must retire for the day,” Anastasha said, reaching out to take their hands within her own one by one. “You must not trouble your mother, and your father? Only trouble him lightly, for you must enjoy yourselves within our humble capital.”

“Okay!” the triplets replied, their tails swaying behind them.

“A most difficult request,” Jirot replied as she held the woman’s thin fingers, and as she side eyed the woman, she smirked.

“Okay…” Little Jarot smiled innocently, though his eyes narrowed with a hint of trouble.

Anastasha understood she could trust in them to deal with their father, and as she was wheeled away, she held out her hand towards the little girl, who sat upright with a suddenness, and though a drowsiness had threatened to overwhelm her, the kind she could not resist, for the source was the fluffy cloudy bread of Aswadasad, she reached out a hand to the Malika.

“Malika! You must rest, for you are so weak, and-,” Lanarot began, only to find a hand atop her head, the girl blinking.

“If you misbehave, I will not allow you to have any more bread today.” It was he who dared to threaten her, for though he was who he was, and he was so easily defeated by her, he was still the eldest brother.

“You would not…” Lanarot’s eyes slowly trailed to meet her brother’s. They held one another’s gaze for a long moment. “Malika, please rest well.”

“I will try,” Anastasha replied, and she brushed the girl’s cheek with a thin finger, noting the roundness of her cheeks. “I will be sure to send more bread to you.”

“You are so wonderful, Malika, I always say it.”

“You do?”

“If I say it, it must be true,” Lanarot replied, holding the confidence within her eyes.

Anastasha noted the way the girls had both responded, one who was tentative, the other so full of confidence. The woman smiled, tickling the girl’s cheek, for she knew Jirot would not be the most troublesome.

A cry pierced the air, as Amalrot reached out her arms, and with a suddenness, she was within those strong arms.

“Don’t worry, Amira. It’s just that she and I are the closest. Isn’t that right, Amalbaby?”

“Ada…”

Adam planted a kiss on her forehead, then her cheek, and wrapped his strong arms around her, all the while the Malika, who was so far behind him now, blinked. Though the Radiant Blade had reached for her blade, she hadn’t drawn it, for the suddenness in which the half elf moved had surprised her, and it was then she recalled he was the grandson of not just the Mad Dog, but another, whose brother had dared to threaten her.

‘He truly is a Crazy Brother…’

“Ball!” Amalrot declared, pointing up to her eldest brother, poking his cheek, and distracting herself as he puffed out his cheek, squealing with delight, clapping her hands.

“You just ate some fruit so let’s…” Adam realised the mistake he had made when the girl stuck her finger in her mouth and almost began to drool. ‘I can’t say the f word…’

Kal Zahid remained behind, for the Amira did not yet leave, and it was a good enough excuse to remain, while the Radiant Blade was best to leave with the Malika, for it was not good for Aswadasad to lose one of its Paragons.

“How are you enjoying Paragon life, Kal Zahid?” a fool asked.

“I am enjoying it well, but it seems many wish for me to work even harder,” the Kal replied, with a curious look upon the half elf, wondering if he had perhaps read his thoughts. Then his eyes fell to Amalrot, who clutched at the half elf’s shirt with an arm, while the other was wet with fruit juices and her saliva as she slowly ate from her hand. “Your sister is so big.”

“She is! You’re such a chonky girl, aren’t you?” Adam planted another firm kiss against her temple, the girl peeking up with a smile upon her lips, hiding her head against his chest, drooling against it.

“My sister is such a big girl,” the most terrifying Iyrman confirmed. “She will grow big and strong!”

“Even you cannot bully me like this!”

“I can bully you, brother, because I am your sister.”

“Ah, of course.”

“Of course,” the children replied together, laughing at their joke, cackling with such delight.

“You guys really only have one joke, huh?”

“Daddy…” Jirot called, accusing him with her eyes.

“…”

“…”

“I am your father, after all.”

“Jirot sighed. Daddy, do you know why I forgive you?”

“Why?”

“How you can not know?” The girl tutted and sauntered off to her mother, all the while little Jarot followed after, his eyes beaming towards his father, almost bumping into his mother, who hoisted him up with ease.

“Is it because he’s handsome?”

Jirot smirked and side eyed her mother, the girl’s lips twitching slightly. “Flirting with daddy is your role, mummy.”

“So it’s because he’s strong?”

“Just a little bit.”

“Just a little bit,” Vonda confirmed.

“Of course,” Jirot replied.

“Of course,” Vonda repeated.

“Of course,” the children all stated.

Kal Zahid held the sight of the half elf, the one figure who caused such nightmares, and yet was beaten by all the children around him.

The Amira, too, hoped the half elf would remain kept at bay by the children, but at the same time she understood that should the children turn on her, that perhaps Aswadasad, the great land that had survived for a millennia, would find itself turned to dust.

“Fwu,” called the tiny girl, reaching up with her hand, though the half elf dodged, and the girl clutched his collar with her wet hand.

“Amalrot…”

The girl smiled shyly, not understanding her brother was trying to admonish her, but she ended up disarming the half elf with her smile, and the fool forgave her, for it was definitely his own fault.

Of course.

The Amira continued to remain with the children, for though she was one of the busiest figures across the entire land, this was the most important task for the next month.

“Maharan, Pam, Elif, Taygak don’t drink too much,” Adam eventually called. “During the evenings, I’ll need you focused.”

“To have this much fun without your wife…” Lani joked, raising her brow towards him.

Adam flushed slightly as he sipped his tea, and as Amalrot snoozed against his chest, the half elf nuzzled against her cheek. “It’s awkward to invite my wife to something like this. I don’t want her to see me like that.”

Lani’s heart dropped, the darkness of anxiety taking her heart. She realised it was much worse than him cheating on his wife.

“Also, don’t worry, Kal Lani, for I’ll assist you later into becoming a Grandmaster, or a Paragon, it’s just, right now, I need to focus on the others, since they need to reach Expert.”

“Daddy, are you going to have fun?” Jirot asked, narrowing her eyes, cutting off her kako from speaking up.

“A little bit.”

“How you can have fun without me?”

“I need to make your kako and aila into Experts and such, so you must forgive me this time.”

“Hmmm…” Jirot looked towards Pam, who looked at the girl with such hope within her eyes, and with that the girl sipped her sour milk, as though she were sipping tea, and she placed down her cup. “I will forgive you. Just this once.”

‘Jirot, I meant…’ Pam thought, blinking at the little girl. However, the figure known as Jirot was too powerful even for her.
