THE RULES FOR THIS BATTLEFIELD ARE SIMPLE - THERE WILL BE NO MODIFIER ASSIGNED. THE BLUE TEAMS OBJECTIVE IS TO HOLD A FORWARD OPERATING BASE FOR ONE WEEK. THE RED TEAMS GOAL IS TO DESTROY THE RADIO AT THE HEART OF THE FORWARD OPERATING BASE, CUTTING OFF REINFORCEMENTS FOR THE BLUE TEAM, RESULTING IN THEIR DESTRUCTION.

ADDITIONAL RULES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

TIME LIMIT: THIS EXERCISE WILL LAST FOR ONE WEEK IN REAL TIME.

THE BLUE TEAM: YOU CANNOT TRAVEL MORE THAN ONE MILE FROM THE PARIMETER OF THE BASE. YOUR TEAM HAS DEFENSIVE EQUIPMENT, SUCH AS TWO TURRETS, AND YOU WILL NEED TO ESTABLISH YOUR DEFENSES APPROPRIATELY TO WARD OFF ATTACK. EVERYONE WILL HAVE BASIC STARTER EQUIPMENT, BUT YOU MAY BE ATTACKED BY RANDOMLY GENERATED INSURGENT SQUADS, WHICH WILL GIVE YOU THE CHANCE TO FIND BETTER ITEMS AND GAIN EXPERIENCE.

THE RED TEAM: YOU MAY ATTACK THE ENEMY BASE ONCE EVERY THREE HOURS. THIS TIMER WILL APPEAR ON YOUR HUD, AND YOU MAY ATTACK AT ANY POINT AFTER THE THREE HOUR TIMER RESETS. UNLIKE THE BLUE TEAM, YOUR TEAM CONSISTS OF ELEMENTS FROM VARIOUS COUNTRIES THAT AREN’T KNOWN TO COOPERATE VERY WELL; SO YOU WILL WANT TO HUNT FOR WEAPONS CACHES TO UPGRADE YOUR EQUIPMENT. ADDITIONALLY, YOU MAY COME ACROSS RANDOMLY GENERATED BLUE TEAM RECON TEAMS. DEFEAT THESE FOR EXPERIENCE AND TO GAIN BETTER EQUIPMENT.

DEATH RULES: THE STANDARD 12 HOUR TIMER IS IN EFFECT.

REWARD: THE TEAM THAT WINS THIS FIRST BATTLEFIELD WILL BE ALLOCATED THREE RIBBONS. THESE WILL BE ASSIGNED USING A VARIETY OF STATISTICS. THE TEAM THAT LOSES WILL BE ALLOCATED ONE RIBBON.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: ALL EQUIPMENT GAINED WILL BE LOST AT THE CONCLUSION OF THIS BATTLEFIELD. STATS, LEVELS, SKILLS, AND TITLES GAINED WILL BE RETAINED.

GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN, AND DON’T DIE TRAINEES!

At the conclusion of the announcement, and before I could say anything else, I found myself standing in a completely different location.

I blinked my eyes multiple times, once again holding back the urge to vomit. Dear god, I hope this gets easier the more we do this. I know the human body can adapt to basically anything, but teleporting is definitely not a normal feeling by any stretch of the imagination.

As I gained my bearings, I was standing in what looked like a rocky outcropping, with small sparse plants sprouting all over the place. There were a few trees dotting the landscape here and there, but it was mostly empty of any discernable features. As I continued taking in where I was standing, I realized that now there was what looked like a compass at the top middle of my HUD, along with a new digital timer. It currently read 2:58:45 and counting down. As I continued to circle, I faced west and noticed that there was a bright red dot in that direction of my compass. It was small, but noticeable. That must be the direction of the Blue Teams base I realized.

The second thing I realized was that I was completely alone suddenly. I scratched the side of my head. Okey doke, so we need to attack the base, but we are scattered. It seems pretty obvious what our first course of action should be; gather together, right?

Suddenly a voice broke into my head, jarring me from my thoughts.

“Uh, hello? Hey, James, can you hear me?”

I quickly realized that was Diondre. Thats right, I had forgotten that he would be here to guide us. “Yeah, I can hear you.” I said louder than I wanted to, like I was shouting at a god that could hear me.

“Yeouch! You don’t have to yell my guy. I know Theodore doesn’t cover this, but if you think about ‘communication’ it will bring up your communication window. There you can customize channels, and how you communicate with different groups. If you just change your admin setting to ‘chat box’, a new box will appear that you can mentally type messages to me. I’ll be able to hear anything you say, I can see everything you see, but that way if you have a message just for me it doesn’t interrupt you talking to others… or make it seem like you are talking to yourself.”

I did as Diondre said, and suddenly I had a little chat window. I quickly realized like the other windows, I could change the size of the window, and various settings.

JAMES TO ADMIN CHAT: Is this better?

“Yes sir, much better! I can even send messages here as well, that way if you are busy I don’t interrupt you.” Diondre said.

DIONDRE TO ADMIN CHAT: See, just like this!

“Ah, ok.” I said out loud, this time speaking to myself. “That makes a lot more sense. I was afraid I would have you yelling in my head while I’m trying to think constantly.”

“Thats the last thing I want to do, that can definitely be distracting in the middle of a firefight! Ok, now that we have that out of the way, your first goal should be to find the others. Before you ask, I cannot provide you any intel on the other side. I’m only allowed to assist you with information about your team. It looks like you can find some of them about three miles to your North.”

I nodded, “Well, guess I better get walking.”
